Manufacturing (Russia)

- 500 tonnes of high grade northern Spruce and Pine responsibly sourced from Russian forests directly to our timber yard in St. Petersburg.

- 300 tonnes of timber delivered as a building kit to the construction site in the UK.

- Magnificent trees up to 200 years old used in production.

- Each joint is individually hand-crafted in Scandinavian style. Each piece of the log-shell is unique forming into irregular organic looking wall.

- Carpenters skillfully use petrol powered chain-saws and manually handle logs up to 13 meters in length and 400 kg in weight.

- Winter temperatures were plunging below -30 degrees Celsius, but works carried on. People kept working in the open air. Electrical equipment required constant heating with open fire.

- Round logs go through a sawmill to obtain oval section. Offcuts used in temporary scaffolding and bracing, later reused on other smaller projects.

- Geometry of the log-shell is carefully checked to ensure correct fitting on-site over the steel structure fabricated in the UK.
